St. Francis Xavier Reconciliation Service
Dec. 13th, @ 7 p.m. On Thursday, December the 13th, our parish will gather to celebrate the healing love of God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This service begins at 7:00 P.M. We will have several priests from the area here to celebrate with us. What a great way to prepare for the coming of the Prince of Peace!

BIRTHR
IGHT SHOWER: Our parish will be having a shower for Birthright during the Advent Season. Birthright is in need of new and used baby items. We especially can use diapers and baby clothing. We will have a crib on display by the altar for you to place your gifts. This is just a good way for our parish to reach out and help the less fortunate. Let's continue praying for Birthright volunteers and mothers. If you have any questions, you can call Kathy Hayes at 395-4805.

Locally-Grown Christmas Trees: The St. Peter School Cub Scouts are holding their annual Christmas Tree Sales Drive from Friday, November 23, through Monday, December 24, on the Schulte’s Fresh Foods parking lot.

Holiday Memorials are a great way to remember those who have died. If you would like to contribute to the Christmas decorations, you may make a donation in the memory of a loved one and his or her name will appear in the holiday bulletin. A suggested offering would be fifteen dollars. You may drop your donation in the mail, the collection, or drop it by the office.

If your family would like to donate toward a Christmas gift for Father Dave and Deacon Jim, please put in an envelope marked Christmas gift and drop in the collection basket.  Thank you, Parish Council

Don’t forget to return your gifts for The Giving Tree for the Samaritan Center by December 15th to Reker Hall, distribution will be Dec. 16th between 11:30 a.m. & 1 p.m. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by these families … in some cases this is their only Christmas. If you have any questions, contact Jane Haslag at 395-4784 or Diana Wekenborg at 395-4351.

CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!! Is your Christmas buying list long, and your gift idea list short?? How about purchasing Scrip or Gift Cards for your employees, friends, and family. There are lists of participating businesses at each door of the church or you can go to www.glscrip.com for a complete list of all businesses that participate nationally. The profit from the sale of these gift cards benefits the St. Francis Xavier Home and School Association. Any questions or to place an order you can call Shirley Woehr at 395-4268, or send the order form through school. Thank you in advance for your support.

JR. HIGH DANCE - The "Wave Runners" Relay for Life Team will sponsor a jr. high dance on December 14, at Jefferson City Knights of Columbus, 1822 Tanner Bridge Rd., from 7:00 - 10:00. Area 6th, 7th, & 8th grade parochial students are invited to attend. The cost is $5.00. Proceeds to benefit Relay for Life, American Cancer Society.

Be alert! A new movie. The Golden Compass, is set to be released on December 7, 2007 throughout the US and translated into 32 different languages as well. The movie is based on a trilogy. His Dark Materials. The author, Phillip Pullman has said in an interview that this trilogy concentrates upon this theme: "I Want to kill God in the minds of Children... I want them to decide against God and the Kingdom of Heaven" quote from Phillip Pullman. The Golden Compass, a sanitized version of the book, wants to have children and young people rebel against parents, teachers, the Church, and anyone in authority. Please avoid going to the movie and call your local theater and ask them not to show the movie.

SCHOOL NEWS: Thanks to all those who are collecting Box Tops, Campbell, Tyson, Best Choice, and Pure Life Water labels for Saint Francis Xavier School. These labels are a free fundraiser, and we really appreciate your help! Labels can be sent to school or left in the box in the back of church.

I would like to thank all those who prayed for my son Evan during his hospitalization. Your prayers and support were very much appreciated. He is recovering in Kansas and, hopefully, will not have any long term effects from the shooting.
We hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas plays. The students enjoy performing for their families and friends. We thank everyone who was involved in setting up the stage and sound system, as well as those who helped put everything away following the plays.
