Dear Parishioners,

There’s a sense of excitement in the air these days.  Excitement, pride, appreciation, and awe at a job well done.

Last September we started this amazing effort called Grateful Memories…Faithful Future.  During the feasibility study, your feedback was clear:  You claimed a love for your priests; a respect for the employees who work for our Catholic Church; and a need - based in justice - to reward those who teach our children.

“Concentrate in these areas,” you told me and we will help you raise between $15 to $23 million dollars.  You have kept your promise!  Last week, we exceeded the challenge goal.  We are currently at $25 million!

The thanks goes to you my dear people.  You are the most important reason for this success.  You have shown yourselves a people of one mind, one heart, and one faith.  As a matter of fact,

§   Over 1,300 parish volunteers are working on the campaign, and,

§   To date, 10,700 families have made gifts to the campaign

Grateful Memories…Faithful Future is a huge undertaking and you have responded in a huge way!  As your shepherd, I open my heart to you with awe and gratitude that reach beyond this room, this town, and this diocese.

At this time, we are putting the finishing touches on the board of trustees.  These men and women will ensure that the entire $25 million will be spent on the campaign goals as you have designated.  Every dollar will help us secure the retirement of priests and employees well into the future.

We know there are still others who want to invest in our future.  In fact, several parishes are completing their campaigns now, offering everyone an opportunity to participate.  Look for the final campaign totals to be announced in October.

Once again, I extend my sincere appreciation to all.  Let’s continue full speed ahead.

With my best wishes and personal regards, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend John R. Gaydos
