My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
In the story of the Last Judgment, Jesus reminds us to care for those in need. If we ignore those who are hungry, thirsty, ill, without clothes, in prison, or strangers, we turn away from Christ. When we act with compassion, generosity, and commitment to justice for the “least among us,” we act as his true disciples.
The Three-In-One Collection is an important opportunity to express Christian compassion and generosity. The Collection is scheduled for March 1 and 2 in our diocese. The Collection theme, Jesus in disguise, reminds us of the presence of Christ in every one of our brothers and sisters in need.
Assisting people in 98 countries on the basis of need—not race, creed, or nationality Catholic Relief Services the is the Church’s international social ministry. This Collection helps build the Church’s international social ministry by funding the work of six Catholic agencies, and creates opportunities for Catholics in the United States to live their faith in solidarity with poor people overseas by providing financial support and addressing the root causes of poverty. CRS funds a full range of legal and support services to Catholic programs directly representing poor immigrants, and advocating for comprehensive immigration reform. Its focus is on reunification of families and protection of those fleeing persecution or civil unrest, annually resettling one quarter of the refugees admitted to the United States, it serves victims of human trafficking, and provides advocacy and pastoral care to many newcomers and persons on the move. CRS funds advocacy for poor and vulnerable people, for international peace and justice, and it works to build the capacity of the Church to respond to global concerns such as religious freedom, poverty, hunger, victims of natural disasters and other emergencies around the world.
The Three-In-One collection also supports the Franciscan care of the Holy Land, and Peter's Pence which will be used to help the Holy Father respond with immediate emergency assistance to the most disadvantaged throughout the world-those who suffer as a result of war, oppression and natural disasters.
The need is enormous, but so is our capacity to care. I urge you to be generous next weekend and pray that your kindness may be a sign to others that you truly recognize Jesus in disguise.
     Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend John R. Gaydos, Bishop of Jefferson City

FINANCIAL PROBLEMS - We have the following bills which must be paid on a monthly basis and have been falling short on our weekly contributions which have been forced the carryover of many of the bills from month to month.
Payroll $50,000                                           Diocesan Assessments 6,000
Parish portion on Health Ins 11,215          Property Insurance 2,500
Employer Social Security 3,700                Utilities 6,000
Employee Retirement (403B) 1,400         Monthly General Bills 4,000.

We ran short by $21,000+ from last year which we have had to make up in addition to our present budget.

Most of the income is from the weekly collections. We sincerely asked our parishioners to dig a little deeper to help us out with our cash flow problems.

We also have a large percentage of our parishioners who contributed nothing toward our parish income. There is no better time to begin contributing than during this Lenten season.

Pray the Rosary at 7:10 p.m. every first Wednesday of each month at the K of C Hall, Taos.
Prayer to Immaculate Heart of Mary: In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy servant, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future, leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and in eternity. Amen
