He married Nancy Campbell 2 Apr 1860. Nancy was born 7 Mar 1834 in KY. Nancy died 22 Feb 1919 in Winfield, TN, at 84 years of age. Her body was interred Feb 1919 at New Light Cemetery in Winfield, TN.

David Chitwood and Nancy Campbell had the following child:

227 i. Lucinda⁶ Chitwood was born 17 Nov 1865. Lucinda died 13 Mar 1939 at 73 years of age. She married Jarett C. "Bob" Chitwood. Jarett was born 1 Dec 1863. Jarett was the son of Pleasant Chitwood and Polly Thompson. Jarett died 21 Nov 1935 at 71 years of age.
