4. William² Cheatwood (Matthias¹ Chitwood) was born in VA 1716. William died 1787 in Chesterfield Co., VA, at 71 years of age.

He married Jean.

William Cheatwood and Jean had the following children:

8 i. Alexander³ Cheatwood. He married twice. He married Elizabeth Montague 25 Jan 1814 in Cumberland Co., VA. He married Jane Stratton 20 Sept 1820 in Cumberland Co., VA. Jane was born 1800 in VA.

9 ii. Clara Cheatwood.

10 iii. Rachel Cheatwood. She married Thomas Turpin 8 Sept 1779 in Chesterfield Co., VA. Thomas was born ca 1758.

11 iv. Beckie Cheatwood.

12 v. Alice Cheatwood.

13 vi. Patience Cheatwood. She married Robert Elam 1791 in VA.

14 vii. Charity Cheatwood. She married John Hancock 1797.

15 viii. Betsy Cheatwood.

16 ix. John Cheatwood was born 1756. John died 1828 at 72 years of age. He married twice. He married Phebe Cobb 19 Dec 1792 in Powhatan Co., VA. He married Nancy Hatcher 23 Dec 1808 or 1811 in Bedford Co., VA.

17 x. Daniel Cheatwood was born in VA 1758. Daniel died ca 1820 in Amherst Co., VA. He married twice. He married Sally Porter 18 Oct 1797 in Powhatan Co., VA. He married Mrs. Frances Gooch 12 Sept 1811 in Amherst Co., VA.

18 xi. Polly Cheatwood was born 1765. Polly died 1784 at 19 years of age.

19 xii. William Cheatwood was born in VA 1770. William died before 1840 in VA. He married Nancy Cottrell 1796 in VA. Nancy was born 1778 in VA. Nancy died 21 Aug 1852 in Gallio, OH, at 74 years of age. Her body was interred Aug 1852 at Cadmus Cemetery in Gallio, OH.

20 xiii. Lottie Cheatwood was born 1772. He married Mary Mayo. Mary was born 1772 in North Carolina.

21 xiv. Celia Cheatwood was born 1789. Celia died 1831 in VA, at 42 years of age. She married Jesse Spinner.
