1. Matthias¹ Chitwood was born in England ca 1681. Matthias died 1754 in Cumberland Co., VA, at 73 years of age.

He married Mary Key 1711 in Northumberland Co., VA. Mary was born 12 Jan 1695 in Northumberland Co., VA. Mary was the daughter of Richard Key.

Matthias Chitwood and Mary Key had the following children:

2 i. Elinor² Chitwood was born in VA ca 1712.

3 ii. Matthias Chitwood was born ca 1714. Matthias died 1787 in Chesterfield Co., VA, at 73 years of age. He married Mrs. Mary Fore about 1743.

+ 4 iii. William Cheatwood was born 1716.

+ 5 iv. John Chitwood was born ca 1718.

+ 6 v. Richard Chitwood was born 1722.

+ 7 vi. Capt. James Chitwood was born 1724.
