Grandma's Peanut Butter Cookies

  • 1 cup shortening

  • 1 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky)

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 3 cups all purpose flour

  • 2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, peanut butter and sugars. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg.  Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.  Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls and place  approx. 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.  Flatten with a fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until bottoms lightly browned.  Makes 4 dozen
