Stewed Tomatoes

  • 1 28 oz. can chopped tomatoes
  • 8 slices white bread, well toasted
  • 4 Tbl. butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar

 

Place tomatoes in a large saucepan, tear toast into 4 pieces per slice, add to tomatoes.  Add butter and sugar.  Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Serve warm.
